Personal profile

Research Interests

Dr. Harrington is a laboratory based research scientist, unravelling the spinal cord and brain circuits that receive and process sensory information from internal (visceral) organs. Such information is then used to identify remodelling within these circuits in disease states of chronic visceral pain. Her technical strengths are in in vitro and in vivo anatomy mapping, molecular localisation, microscopy and neurophysiology.

Her research is funded through the ARC and NHMRC and industry funding. She has published her work in high-impact publications such as Nature Communications, Gastroenterology, Gut, Pain, Scientific Reports, JCI insights, Journal of Comparative Neuroscience and American Journal of Physiology.
