Dr Kailash Thapaliya is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Registry of Senior Australians (ROSA). Dr Thapaliya has been awarded his PhD in Clinical Epidemiology and Medical Statistics from the University of Newcastle, NSW in June 2021 after completing his Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Pokhara University, Nepal in 2015. His research interests include pharmacoepidemiology, aged care, polypharmacy/deprescribing, frailty, dementia, health care utilization and longitudinal modelling. He has a particular interest in developing innovative research methods and statistical approaches.

Dr Thapaliya’s expertise centres on healthcare research using large and complex datasets, developing and identifying new analysis and prediction models, and performing data analysis tasks. He is experienced in using advanced analytical models to manage and analyse large administrative and survey datasets

His current work involves producing evidence necessary for practice and policy recommendations related to access, variation, and effectiveness of primary health care services that improve the health and wellbeing of aged care recipients, living in aged care facilities or in the community.
