Research Interests

Laura is a cancer biologist and a member of the Gut Cancer lab based at SAHMRI.  Headed by Dr Susan Woods, this lab works to identify, validate and translate new discoveries into clinical practice to help better detect and treat gastrointestinal cancers.

Working in collaboration with numerous labs and hospitals across Adelaide and Australia, Laura uses organoid technology to grow individual patient samples, which are then maintained in a gastrointestinal organoid biobank.  This resource allows Laura and her colleagues to study and compare tumour organoids and assess personalised treatments for patients with advance disease.
