Renee Smith is a Senior Genomics Specialist within the South Australian Genomics Centre, with 13+ years of experience working with sequencing technologies including managing the Flinders Genomics Facility from 2013-2021. Being located in the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer Building, the majority of the samples processed within the Flinders Genomics Facility consisted of cancer related samples which utilised Illumina sequencing and OpenArray platforms, however the facility also worked closely with researchers on many other human, microbial, plant and animal based research projects.

 

Renee Smith is also a Research Associate within the College of Medicine and Public Health at Flinders University. Her research expertise are in molecular biology and microbial ecology and involves investigating microbial communities using next generation sequencing technology. Renee has extensive experience in microbiome studies, having undertaken microbial research on a diverse range of samples including groundwater, soil, marine, insects, ochre, and various human samples.
