Abstract
This report looks at the consultation phase for a possible new study on Aboriginal women's experiences of maternity and postnatal care in South Australia. After in principle support was obtained from the Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia, and funding was sourced, the research team undertook more than 12 months of consultation with Aboriginal community organisations, communities, women's groups, service providers and policy makers in South Australia, investigating whether there was community support for such research, and - should it go ahead - seeking input into the research process. This report discusses the feedback from the consultations and describes initial work on the next phase - to develop the research protocol and interview schedule of the new Aboriginal Families Study.
